In 2019, our founder set out to answer a question—rather than trying to fill a father role for boys without an active dad, could estranged dads be reconnected with their children?
Jeff Hutter began volunteering as a big brother in the Kansas City Big Brother Big Sister program in 1975. He continued mentoring after moving to Louisville and broadened his work through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Louisville.
After retiring in 2019, Mr. Hutter connected with Madison County's Problem Solving Court. From that connection, our fatherhood program began.
Since then, We Help Dads has provided class training to more than 200 fathers from the Madison County court system, fatherhood instruction in the Hamilton County Jail through the TOWER Program, and classes at the Madison County Corrections Complex.
Beginning in 2024, volunteer graduate dads began mentoring others who have turned their lives around but need help overcoming obstacles to full involvement with their children.
